Recurrent Urinary Tract Infection

Overview
Overview

Recurrent urinary tract infection (RUTI) is defined as two episodes of UTI in a six month period or three episodes of UTI in a period of one year documented by urinalysis. Signs and symptoms are the same as UTI which includes dysuria, urgency, frequency, nocturia, hematuria, suprapubic discomfort and suprapubic tenderness. Cases of RUTI are more common in women. It is best managed by conducting a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation for both partners and administering a target specific treatment.
